objects in mirror are closer than they appear
giulio delvè
unosolo is pleased to announce Objects in the Mirror are Closer than they Appear, a site-specific project by Giulio Delvè.
The exhibition is constructed around the observation of a fact, often routinely, a dailyritual of which the artist himself is a spectator. A process, that of observing, which Giulio Delvè uses in order to decodea language,a waitingwhich serves tometabolizeelementslaterto becomeaction. The artist andhis practicethus becomeuseful toolsfor understandinga surroundingreality, which becomes an object, material, theme.
Delvè’s deriving actions are immediate, spontaneous and through the intrinsic narrative function of the things and their possibility to tell, they reflect on that which might occur when the artists’ act touches our surroundings.
Analyzing the dynamics, the traces, the interventions – mostly collective – that surrounds us, Delvè appropriates himself (often furtively) and translates them into an art object, testimonies of our contemporariness, findings of our living, of our historical epoch.
Giulio Delvè’s intervention in this way investigates phenomena often on the edge of the law; through performative action reflecting on the meaning of appropriation, on the relation between public and private, collective and individual.
